The fall is such a busy time from school starting to the holidays, there is so much entertaining. The get togethers range from causal dinners for friens and family to the holiday celebrations for Halloween to Thanksgiving meal. It is also the season of pumpkin. I absolutely love pumpkin desserts, but I don’t always want to go all out to make a home made pumpkin pie.
I decided to use the idea of a “dump cake” (which uses about 3-5 ingredients poured into a greased skillet or baking pan, and then enjoyed after being baked ) for a pumpkin dessert. I used pumpkin pie mix, (not the unsweeted or spiced puree) made according to the directions, and spiced cake (carrot cake, pecan butter cake, or even yellow cake would be delicious on this.) Place 8 tablespoons of butter on top and bake. Surprisingly, this easy handful of ingredients have a lush texture and spiced flavorful hot toothsome dessert that you can serve with Ice cream.
The prep time is 5 minutes and it only has 5 ingredients. Most of which you may already have in your pantry. What are you waiting for… give it a try. You will thank me!
5 minute 5 ingredient Spiced Pumpkin Crisp
Ingredients
- 30 oz Pumpkin Pie mix Pumpkin Puree may be used if you add 2/3 c sugar and 1 tbsp of cinnamon
- 5 oz Evaporated milk or 2/3 (Half and half) 5 oz can or 2/3 cup of half and half
- 2 eggs Eggs
- 1 box Spiced Cake mix Carrot Cake, Butter Pecan, Yellow cake, White Cake can also be used.
- 1/2 cup Butter (Chilled) Cut into tablespoon sized pieces
Instructions
- Pre heat the oven to 350
- Spray baking dish or cast iron skillet with spray oil.
- Mix pumpkin pie mix, with evaporated milk, and both eggs. (If using pumpkin puree add 2/3 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
- Whisk until fully combined.
- Add the pumpkin mixture to the baking dish or cast iron pan.
- Open the cake mix, and sprinkle entire cake mix on top of the pumpkin mixture covering it completely.
- Place all of the butter slices on the top of the cake mix.
- Place skillet into the oven and bake on 350 for 45 minutes.
- Allow to cool for about 14 to 20 minutes.
- Enjoy with some ice cream, or whipped cream.
